My practice pays homage to the Arts—music/dance/poetry/visual arts. Art for me unifies—in this particular project it reframes: a tornado transformed into a whirlwind of sustaining visuals creating connection, movement, and sounds that continue through vagrancies of economics ups and downs.
Vital red energy in a core of green nourished by yellow sun—trees beautifying the Broadway center strip of land as the West Harlem Art Alliance project works the edges. One more time sound and dance and visual creations fill the empty spaces reflecting beauty in beauty, placing hope in the void.
Astounding sound beats, style, and rhythm pop out from images, join actual street beats and walk rhythms. A reminder that Arts never die, only transcend and sprout on Broadway above 135th. A hub of complementing cultures fill in the vacancies with artistic reflection of our resiliency.
“Art is elixir, art carries cultural story that contributes to words written and not written. Art unites, creates individuality and community. Art helps heal microscopic splits and wounds as well as macroscopic explosions and devastations.” – Carletta Joy Walker.
