“Public art can tell a story”
We display the work of local emerging artists in vacant storefronts in high visibility locations.
With the intention of amplifying underrepresented voices, our gallery walks can inspire hope and positive change.
The Model
Artists
Art on the Ave spotlights traditionally underrepresented artists by providing them a platform to showcase their work.
Property Owners & Businesses
We activate vacant retail locations by transforming them into galleries and studios for artists. These animated spaces attract fresh eyes and brighten the streetscape.
Community
Art on the Ave installations are designed to be interactive and engaging. We encourage passersby to see the work, meet the artists, and participate in workshops.
An Outdoor Classroom
Art on the Ave NYC is an opportunity to take students on an art-inspired discovery walk, teaching them the value of seeing through others’ eyes and deepening their sense of belonging.
As part of its educational component, Art on the Ave NYC offers:
Guided gallery walks with volunteers, educators, and curators
Digital and printable educational materials
Extension project inviting students to create and share art inspired by Art on the Ave
Impact
Art on the Ave NYC is street-level and highly visible, addressing issues that resonate with different audiences:
Artists deserving of exposure
Businesses needing support
Residents seeking confidence in their community
Everyone will find something to connect with and appreciate on our gallery walks.
