With the intention of amplifying underrepresented voices, this gallery walk can inspire hope and positive change.
The Model
Local Artists
We aim to spotlight artists who have been traditionally underrepresented. We are looking for artists with a story to tell and a new perspective to share.
Local Property Owners & Businesses
We enlist vacant retail storefronts to act as display spaces for our exhibition. We work with local businesses to house art, offer promotions, and add a level of interaction for the community. Activity needs to return to the city, and art can bring that activity. It can serve as a tool to instill a sense of confidence in the neighborhood.
Donations
All donations go towards funding installation expenses, as well as promotional materials. This allows us to support participating artists and create impactful display space.
An Outdoor Classroom
Art on the Ave NYC is an opportunity to take students on an art-inspired gallery walk and teach them about the importance of walking in someone else's shoes, understanding different perspectives, and learning new stories.
As part of its educational component, Art on the Ave NYC offers:
Gallery walks with volunteers, educators, and curators
Digital and printable educational materials
An extension project asking students to share their art inspired by Art on the Ave
Impact
Art on the Ave NYC is street-level and highly visible. It speaks to issues that resonate with different audiences for different reasons:

This socially distanced gallery walk can help people come to terms with the events of this past year and move forward, whether it is a school-aged child led by a teacher, an elderly couple isolated for too long, or a family wanting to do something "sparkly" and fun on a holiday walk. Everyone will find something to appreciate and talk about on this gallery walk.
