I grew up and continue to live in the vibrant neighborhood of Washington Height. What sets Washington Heights apart from other neighborhoods is its remarkable sense of community, embodying the true spirit of a "melting pot." In my humble opinion, this neighborhood stands out, particularly in its dedication to the arts. The emergence of The Rise holds immense significance as it provides a much-needed platform for talented local artists to showcase their work. It represents a beacon of artistic expression, fostering a sense of unity and pride among residents who have long yearned for such a platform. And its in the spirit of this "Melting Pot" I sought to capture this essence in my piece "Wall of Sound." I aimed to create a visual representation of the harmonious blending of different musical styles. My intention is for the viewers not only to see a melting pot of colors but also to evoke the sensation of hearing the rich tapestry of music that Washington Heights embraces. "Wall of Sound" is an ode to the unique cultural fusion and vibrant artistic energy that defines our neighborhood.
