Annette Solakoglu
Annette is a photographer and filmmaker. Originally from Sweden, she grew up in Germany, and lives in New York’s Hudson Valley. Her personal work has been published and exhibited internationally; her films received numerous awards, including Best Short Film at Santa Barbara Intl. Film Festival and the Humanitarian Award at Cleveland Intl. Film Festival. She received a 2020 IPA Silver Award and won the 2020 and 2022 Julia Margaret Cameron Award in the self-portrait and street photography categories. Her portraiture series, FacesIGraces, was exhibited in a solo show at the Balter Gallery, Garrison Art Center, New York. The series was acquired by the Putnam History Museum for their permanent collection.
Over the past decade, Annette taught documentary history at Vassar College and film production at Boston University. She graduated from Berlin University of the Arts, Germany, and earned a Master of Fine Arts degree from Boston University. At ICP in New York, Annette studied large format film photography with Richard Rothman.
