Terry Frishman
I feel compelled to photograph wherever I walk. Fantastical figures of found imagery emerge from random patterns in inanimate textures, like asphalt, water and tar. Rediscovering childlike wonder in the everyday, I become hyper present, capturing a moment in time as the world dissolves around me. These ephemeral subjects can disappear by a shift of light, gust of wind or person’s foot.
My abstract body of work questions how perspective and imagination can broaden our observations and understanding of reality. How might we view urban elements and decay while considering broader themes of visibility, recognizability and seeing versus knowing?
