Painting for me often develops through working out ideas and impulses, responding over and over again with the paint- being a conduit. Anything is possible. "Offerings and Red Coral" came about by my contemplations of water (especially ocean waters) as a source of healing, restoration, movement, often a place of solace. I think of the plight of humanity and our natural world. The work leans towards the ineffable, a kind of reverence for the ocean and being in relationship with it. Perhaps a prayer... and a moment of awakening.
