Modern technology has given us the ability to communicate in better ways; however, it seems to isolate us more each day. As a Cuban artist, living in NYC, I survive by portraying the beautiful things we human beings do on a daily basis to connect...like having a picnic in the park, dancing on the street or getting together for a drink. That is what I miss mostly from my life in Cuba...friends and family connecting in the simplest ways; maybe a necessity to overcome the sadness and frustration of living under the control of a totalitarian regime. I believe it is the elixir to the woes of today's society; we should celebrate it. That's what I do in my art.
