Live the Village - “Awakening”

April 15 - July 8, 2021

In our second gallery walk, we put local artists’ work into vacant storefronts in the West Village. In this exhibition, entitled “Awakening,” artists were asked to share their stories of reflection and optimism for the future.

KRIEGER I ELEY Art Advisory is a partnership between Norma Krieger and Susan Davis-Eley, whose professional experience in art, branding, and cross-promotion collectively spans 30 years.

The team has long recognized the symbiotic relationship between Art and Real Estate. We specialize in offering audience-engaged contemporary art experiences, exhibitions, and installations in a variety of venues.

With a mission to “bring art and artists to an audience,” Krieger | Eley creates site-specific visual art experiences and exhibitions. In curating ART ON THE AVE NYC’s public art initiative, the focus is on community regeneration by showcasing traditionally under-represented and emerging artists in vacant Greenwich Village storefronts. We are delighted to have the opportunity to work with innovative founders Jackie Graham and Barbara Anderson, educators who recognized the need for this urban art platform.

As charter members of AWAD (Association of Women Art Dealers), the Krieger I Eley team has insider access to a vast network of galleries and artists, both domestically and internationally.

Intern Team

Julie Sohjin Kim

I am a student at Columbia University studying visual arts with a focus on painting. I am passionate about engaging communities through art and exploring public art as a means to share education, stories, and new ideas. As an artist, I value that art carries a language that speaks to people in ways of its own, and am inspired by its potential to be the breaking wave of any change in the world.

Although originally from New Jersey, I feel most at home in New York City. I am so excited to be a part of Art on the Ave and its impact in NYC (and hopefully beyond). I hope to help strengthen people’s connection to art and empathy towards others, while also supporting artists and fostering community in the city I love.

Mack Hurstell

I am a student at Fordham University at Rose Hill studying visual arts and economics. I am passionate about art as a lens through which we understand the world around us and interpret connections with others. I grew up in Texas, but the history and culture of New York City have captured my heart and soul.

I believe art can be a powerful tool to inspire community engagement and social change and am honored to play a part in empowering local artists with Art on the Ave NYC. Art can challenge and transcend social boundaries, and as artists, we are given the unique opportunity to connect with the world around us and inspire change far beyond ourselves.
